To/ Ms. Ellen McIntryre (Chief of Staff) - office of the Honourable Mark Ryan MP, Minister for police and corrective services.
Dear Ellen,
Thank you very much for your response, however generic it might appear I do nonetheless appreciate any response and feedback which I get from the minister's office, in regards to information to do with the Sharron Phillips matter.
Ellen, with absolute respect, let's get one thing straight about QLD police's response to me, as in at an investigative level, to do with all matters, information and in some instances "evidence" which I have directed to police officers in the Homicide squad, either directly or through Crimestoppers in previous times, to do with the Sharron Phillips matter.
It has in plain English been fitful and grossly inadequate. Whether or not that has been intentional and of a nefarious nature, I will let certain police officers tell that to Mr. Ryan himself.
I know you can only provide me advice on the basis of what the inspector at the Commissioner's office informs you, or perhaps, another delegated person within QLD Police, to do with communications and inquiries I refer to Mr. Ryan's office in the first instance.
So I am not in any way questioning you or your integrity. I am just here to tell you that no, regardless of the "spiel" which someone like Nyree Wheelan at the Commissioner's officer provides to you, that very little, if any, of the information which I have supplied to QLD Police to do with (a) a location of interest at Grantham in the Lockyer Valley and (b) a testimony (confession) provided to me in 2013 by Christine Freeman of Laidley to do with that location of interest, as well as other key points of potential admissible evidence, has ever been properly and thoroughly investigated by any QLD Police officer, and especially of note, not one single detective-inspector employed at the Queensland Homicide / Cold Case Squad.
It has never happened. To the point where QLD Police officers refuse to contact and engage with me to take a statement, to validate the information, cross match it if you were, with the information provided to me by Ms. Freeman in 2013. It is blatantly unethical conduct, at best. At worst, well it is worthy of Crime and Corruption Commission investigation. It is as simple as that.
Yes, detective-sergeant Tara Kentwell, in recent times, has offered me an olive branch of sorts, and agreed to conduct three (3) historical title deed searches of private properties at Grantham, one of which, on the basis of Ms. Freeman's "untested testimony / confession" to me in 2013, I would alledge is highly likely to have a connection to one of the persons involved in the murder of Sharron Phillips in 1986.
I appreciate Ms. Kentwell's professionalism and ethics, and giving me the opportunity to forward information / evidence to her via registered post in early December, 2019 to do with the Sharron Phillips matter and also the Pasquale "Peter" Barbaro cold case from 1990, which I alledge, with reasonably strong anecdotal evidence is connected to Sharron Phillips, but Tara is only one person.
To put it bluntly, I feel that Mr. Ryan, in an appropriate manner which in no way could be construed as "political interference", needs to basically read the "riot act" to whoever the superintendent of police is who has authority over the Queensland Homicide /Cold Case Squad, to ensure that from this moment on, all detectives of any specific rank and position, including one Damien Hansen, the OIC of the Homicide Squad, are given a directive by that superintendent to start engaging with me in a fully transparent and ethical manner.
To give you some insight into how QLD Police acted upon the tweet I directed to Mr. Ryan, a picture of what I strongly suspect is a shallow human grave at the end of Garrard Lane, Grantham, Lockyer Valley, I made direct contact with a senior officer at Gatton Police after I first become aware that Mr. Ryan had referred the tweet to senior police figures, and after I first learned that Gatton police officers had "supposedly" attended the location to undertake a search for evidence of such.
The 2IC (as such) at Gatton police, in a rather uncooperative phone manner, pretty much discounted my information as being valid or admissible, even though I am sure that the Gatton police officer who gave the direction for officers to attend the location for a search, assuming it actually took place, knew full well that it was the subject of an active investigation, or at least active inquiries, with Tara Kentwell and the Cold Case Squad.
Given that I was the one who took the picture, and had been to the location myself on foot and I am obviously the best person there is to greatly narrow down a search area, the question is, why didn't Gatton police request my input or direct involvement in the search, or at the very least, request that I provide a formal statement to the Cold Case Squad, as part of the "official investigation"?
The lack of transparency from Gatton Police is underwhelming and profoundly troubling, to put it bluntly.
I intend to be fair and reasonable and provide detective-sergeant Tara Kentwell a "reasonable amount of time" to undertake the three (3) historical title deed searches in question, as in approximately 3 to 4 weeks from now.
Ms. Kentwell has been advised of my expectations, including that following the outcomes of the title searches being undertaken, that she, and no other QLD Police officer, will take a formal statement from me, and I would envisage, it would only be ethical and standard police investigative procedure for Ms. Kentwell to attempt to obtain a statement from Christine Freeman of Laidley as well, to assist in substantiating the information to do with Sandy Creek Road and Garrard Lane, Grantham. I will keep you posted Ellen on the outcomes in due course.
Best regards,
Tim Badrick
