It should come as no surprise whatsoever that the ineptitude and misdirection of the Crime and Corruption Commission in Queensland should have particularly been under the microscope as part of the recent "corruption probe" overseen by veteran QC Tony Fitzgerald.
What's more of a shock is that Fitzgerald actually succeeded in singling out "cowboy cops" who have been effectively left to run amok by the CCC. Even the toothless tiger himself has recommended that the CCC needs to be overhauled to deal with these "cowboy cops".
Question is, will his corruption probe ever identify the cops in question, or at the very least, identify the substantiated instances of corrupt conduct which they were or are guilty of? After weeks of waiting the Queensland public probably has its answer - NO.
The general public has a right to know at least if there is a systematic culture of corruption currently operating within the CCC. That's probably the only dime a dozen success Fitzgerald can lay claim to.
Queenslanders also have a right to know if the CCC is by any definition under "partisan political control", which in plain English means this - is the CCC guilty of having ever engaged in maliciously politicised witch-hunt investigations at the bequest of any political figure, staffer, or bureaucrat, to take down and effectively destroy the life of a political opponent, activist or whistleblower, or just someone who someone gets it in for?
Because it is happening in Queensland, it is happening a lot, and has been for many years. The conduct of the CCC in recent years has taken Queensland back to police state status.
