BOM BOMBED OUT BIG TIME LATELY WITH SOME BULLDUST WEATHER FORECASTS

The weather can be as temperamental as an irate mother-in-law, and that is mighty temperamental. Weather forecasts issued by the Bureau of Meteorology have certainly improved from the days when a TV weather presenter would say to the effect - if it's not raining it'll be fine.

Modern technology has allowed BOM to generally get it right, or at least partially right, "most of the time". Obviously BOM has had a bad couple of weeks with its weather forecasts, judging by the widespread cynicism and criticism directed at it by a lot of people who are wondering what the heck happened to all that rain that was supposed to fall in the first week of March.

It didn't happen, neither did a number of thunderstorms eventuate in the same period which were supposed to dump a healthy amount of rain across parts of Queensland which are increasingly desperate for a good drink, including dam catchments.

As it has turned out, the out of kilter weather forecasts issued by BOM of late posed no danger to anyone, in place of the rain that didn't eventuate, there was no extreme weather conditions which caught anybody out and put anyone's life at risk.

But still, BOM hierarchy was wrong to effectively suggest that its new found cynics are dills who couldn't accurately interpret very simple and straightforward weather forecasts.
