MAROOCHYDORE MAGISTRATE JUST THE KIND OF JUDGE WHO MAKES A MOCKERY OF JUSTICE

Maroochydore magistrate Rod Madsen was "way out of line" to have refused to watch a video of the brutal assault perpetrated by Tyson Joel Wylie.

It's "out of touch"judges like him in Queensland courts who in effect make a mockery of justice itself by dishing out manifestly inadequate sentences to people like Wylie, the thug who viciously assaulted two people at random at two different locations in the space of a week.

What is Magistrate Madsen on about? The security camera footage of Wylie crossing a road on the Sunshine Coast on the night of September 26 to lay three left hooks into a complete stranger, which so easily could have had fatal consequences, was the evidence, and very admissible at that, presented by the police to back up the prosecution case against him.

It's not up to any judge, including Madsen, to pick and choose what evidence they want to be privy to and  what evidence they dont want to be privy to based upon the perceived emotiveness or subjectivity of what  is presented in court. It's totally preposterous that a judge has even been permitted to do so up until now.

Attorney-General Yvette D'ath must immediately commission a review of sentencing in Queensland courts,  to ensure that all judges in all courts in Queensland are legally obliged to witness any evidence presented in court if they are requested to do so.
