LABOR MUST DEFY ITS BAD OLD FORM AND MAKE PUBLIC TRANSPORT CHEAPER

Public transport usage, particularly in and around Brisbane, has been in steady decline now for a few years. One very logical explanation for that is that fares simply have risen too much and commuters are increasingly opting for ride sharing with family, friends and colleagues to go to work.

If it's more convenient and less expensive - why wouldn't you think about ditching public transport for ride sharing? The State Government should be looking to make all public transport cheaper, not more expensive, to get a lot more people on a bus or train, and at the same time, increase and extend services to make it much less of a rigmarole and hassle for commuters to use them and get to where they want to be, when they want to be.

Labor in Queensland, true to bad old form which goes back to the Beattie era, looks set to give the green light to a big public transport fare hike, just when Premier Palaszczuk and her transport minister Jackie Trad should be doing everything in their power to promote public transport usage before more Queenslanders, besides the ones who already have, give buses and trains the flick.
