NET FREE ZONES ALONG QUEENSLAND COAST IS ANTI-TRAWLER OVERKILL

No doubt about it, the Palaszczuk government's looming "net free fishing zones" legislation is mass overkill in place of a reasonable and balanced approach to
managing Queensland's fisheries to ensure their sustainability while at the same time not putting professional fishermen out of business.

Sure, overfishing is responsible for a huge decrease in the number of certain fish species along our coastline, and yes, there is a very good argument to have more stringent limits placed on what professional fishermen can catch, depending on the specific location and what time of the year it is. That's what you call common sense.

But to totally prohibit professional fishermen from ever operating in these areas holus bolus reeks of Labor pandering to the Green lobby, which is militantly opposed to any form of commercial fishing.
