PARENTAL LEAVE 'DOUBLE DIP' IS SIMPLY OVER THE TOP

With a federal budget that'll be in the red by tens of billions of dollars for many years to come, the fact is Australians across the board have to wake up to the reality that the age of extravagant welfare must come to an end.  Treasury is not a money tree, and with ever shrinking sources of revenue, no government can afford to not 'pull the purse strings'.

All the working mums out there who are peeved off with Tony Abbott and Joe Hockey over the imminent crackdown to end 'double dipping' of parental leave should just be happy that they are in line to receive employer funded maternity leave benefits, and if that were to come up short, the government will 'top it up' in any case.

Fact is if working mums cannot comfortably live off the proceeds of the average employer funded scheme for 18 weeks after they have a baby, if they are the recipient of one, without needing the government to prop them up, then in more cases than not they are living way beyond their means.
