PINK BELTS OUT A PEARLER WITH 'BRIDGE OF LIGHT' AND PROVES SHE KNOWS A BIT ABOUT SOUL
Forget all about Kelly Clarkson and her angst ridden MR. KNOW IT ALL, probaly also leave out Katy Perry and TEENAGE DREAM, because one time punk pop star PINK has come up with a real snorter with the classic soul feel of her new song BRIDGE OF LIGHT. Katy is okay i guess for bubble gum teeny bopper music, the song i mentioned of her's above is the one only one i know by name, but to listen to her i know half a dozen of her tunes. I mentioned Clarkson only because radio is completely thrashing her new song, the one i mentioned as well, great dynamics, a bit like synthesiser funk, very hypnotic, but like many Clarkson songs, you are wondering by the end of MR. KNOW IT ALL what point is she trying to make other than she got burnt by guys, or more precisely, what did Kelly learn from her experiences. There has always been some vital DNA missing from her songwriting, even if her songs sound okay. Pink is of course the least refined of the three, at least in physical appearance, i only know most of her songs to listen to, not the names, the one where she is singing about the next shout of booze and where an expletive gets bleeped out has been on the radio for ages. Despite her attitude and at times brazen and caustic songwriting, Pink is maturing as a songwriter, that is evident in BRIDGE OF LIGHT. Importantly and sensibly for Pink, she sings within her capabilities, she's no Aretha Franklin & she doesn't try to be, too many other female pop stars these days basically yell in certain songs to get some sort of impact, when they would be much better off keeping lower down in the notes & bringing in some backing vocalists like Pink employed for BRIDGE OF LIGHT. Obviously inspired by the birth of her first child in recent times, Pink come up with her own little I WANT TO KNOW WHAT LOVE IS. In the process, she not only proved she can really sing but she has a big heart down deep as well there.
