What Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran done was very wrong, as the Bali 9
ringleaders they took the punt knowing Indonesia's hard line stance against drug traffickers could carry the death penalty if they and their mules were caught.
As karma would have it, they did, all nine of them, but as the ringleaders of their failed plot they were always in line to be made examples of by the extremely ultra-fundamentalist Indonesian Attorney- General Muhammad Prasetyo, who most likely would want to have all nine of them face the firing squad, judging by his extremely harsh rhetoric of late.
Chan and Sukumaran deserve to spend a very long time in jail like any other convicted drug smugglers, but if the so called political reformist and moderate leaning Joko Widodo, president of Indonesia, is any reformist at all then he will acknowledge what a great folly it would be to send these two contrite and reformed prisoners to the firing squad, and he will do that by commuting their sentence to life imprisonment.
What will exeucuting Chan and Sukumaran achieve other than erode our belief system in wanting people like them to seek redemption and forgiveness for their wrongdoings? - a most basic Christian fundamental which many Christians seem to forget.
