JOHN MOONEY MAKING POLK STREET HIS SACRED GROUND

This is one of three or four outstanding tracks off JOHN MOONEY's brilliant 1996 album AGAINST THE WALL, which was an almost perfect amalgam of Delta blues and Chicago blues with a unique and unmistakable influence of New Orleans club jazz and traditional Cajun music endemic to the deep south of Louisiana.

Here a slightly older John Mooney is giving SACRED GROUND a lot more stripped down and improvised treatment on the streets of San Francisco at the 2010 POLK STREET BLUES FESTIVAL, which has become the 21st century version of many a 20th century music festival of its kind on the west coast which are now a forgotten memory.
