The housing crisis in Queensland has impacted on thousands of victims.
Thousands of people who have basically given up, lost all hope, and don't see a light at the end of the tunnel.
That light being a solution that helps them find something that the greater majority of us can thankfully still take for granted - a house and a roof over our head.
When any of us reach breaking point, as a consequence of a multitude of factors revolving around "financial stress", we are all vulnerable to suffering some form of mental illness.
If financial stress escalates to the point where someone for example knows that they are going to be homeless in two or three weeks time, and have got all that time in the interim to "stew about it", that's when it becomes a particularly dangerous catalyst for someone to commit suicide.
People who are suffering extreme financial stress are just the ones who understandably are going to overthink everything, they are going to think doom and gloom before they think of anything positive.
It's immensely tragic that this unremitting, yet to be properly resolved housing crisis is causing a huge spike in suicide cases.
Even if the housing crisis isn't resolved, this shocking situation must be resolved.
Extreme financial stress combined with an idle mind can make anyone go over the edge and do something that they probably never thought themselves that they could ever do.
Namely committing suicide. At the very least, there needs to be a support service set up in Queensland so that people who are facing eviction, facing homelessness, facing a life, be it temporary, that will take them out of any comfort zone they have known to this point in their life, can ring up to get the help and advice they need, mental health and otherwise
