FAIR WORK COMMISSION MUST NOT ATTEMPT TO SLASH WEEKEND PENALTY RATES ANY FURTHER
The Federal Court's decision to not overturn the Fair Work Commission's weekend penalty rate cuts is hardly surprising.
Hardly surprising given that the decision makers have likely never done a hard days work in their life, or been in a position like many others a working class blue collar Aussie where they had to work on a Sunday just to have a job.
Given that the traditional weekend is fast becoming a thing of the past thanks to extended trading hours in the retail sector, it could be expected that people who want a job have to accept that working on the weekend is a necessity.
But their sacrifice to do so must be rewarded with some penalty rates. That's why the Fair Work Commission must not get any ideas of any further cuts to weekend penalty rates.
