QUEENSLAND LABOR MUST TREAD WITH GREAT CAUTION DEALING WITH ADANI
If Indian mining giant Adani didn't have a dubious history relating to tax avoidance and environmental conformance, then yes, the expectation should be that the Palaszczuk government in Queensland should get right behind the company, and not impede the development of the Galilee Basin coal mine in any manner.
But the fact is, Adani has a history of funnelling its profits through tax avoidance havens, like the Cayman Islands, and in a number of instances has left behind a trail of environmental desecration with some of its projects.
That's why Labor in Queensland needs to think twice about supporting Adani.
It's called simple and plain common sense. Forget also the pro-Adani media spin that would have you believe Adani is "all above board" and that the mine will be like manna falling from heaven for the Queensland economy and jobs, jobs, jobs. Because spin is what it is.
