LET TIBET BE FREE ONCE MORE - ( SOMETHING I WROTE IN LATE 2008)
The Chinese communist regime is at it again. One of the last empires of Bolshevik communism on the earth is violating the human rights of the people of Tibet. The disputed region once again, and as much as ever before, is being overrun by an army of thugs very prone to murderous tendencies and violence.
The in-exile Dalai Lama and his Buddhist majority in Tibet are like lambs to the slaughter at the hands of the megalomaniac powers in Beijing.
The downtrodden Tibetans are the complete antithesis of the Chinese regime's uncompromising brutality and emotionless atheism. They don't have guns and tanks to return fire at the invaders.
Now would be an excellent time for prime minister Kevin Rudd to use the "legendary Mandarin speaking skills" he is renowned for having, along with his "extensive" experience as a foreign diplomat to China.
He should be letting the communists in Beijing know that the free world, the free world that upholds democracy and human rights, is watching their appalling disregard for both as evident in Tibet.
Does Rudd have such a short memory that he is prepared to do trade and business with China with no strings attached, and no "conditions of entry", while overlooking and ignoring the legacy of the Tiananmen Square massacre of 1989 and the ongoing fascist purge against Chinese citizens since that time who have peacefully and not violently sought a more democratic future for their country?
The Rudd government can't continue to ignore the authoritarian thuggery being dished out by Chinese police and paramilitary in Tibet under orders by their Beijing masters.
Rudd's position must be that if China wants to do business with Australia that at the very least momentum towards "autonomy" being granted to Tibet must be allowed and even promoted by Beijing.
An ultimatum must be issued by Rudd and every other western leader too to the Chinese communists that either the Stalin and Mao approach to Tibet makes way for a much more conciliatory approach to Tibet and allowing cultural and religious freedom for all Tibetans, or else, we WONT do business with you.
