HATS OFF TO SLIM AND HATS OFF TO MELODY FEDER
In contrast to all the rocked up and hyped up country music being churned out by other australian country music artists, MELODY FEDER and her no frills slightly alternatively flavoured brand of country, which would sound right at home just as much at Port Fairy at the folk festival as it would at Tamworth at the much more publicised country music festival, is somewhat of a breath of fresh retrospective air, just a beautiful young woman with a good voice and guitar who has all the right influences in country to keep her music grounded and down to earth.
The 25 year old cites LINDA RONDSTAT and DOLLY PARTON as two giant american influences during her growing up years, while in more recent years KASEY CHAMBERS and the alternative tinged blues of MICHELLE BRANCH has tickled Melody's fancy by all reports. She also is a fan of crooner PATTY GRIFFIN, when lends heavily to Melody's growing sophistication as a songwriter.
Melody was born in Adelaide in 1988 and starting playing and writing songs at the mere age of 10, it would take until 2010 with the release of her excellent debut album DIRT ROADS AND DIAMONDS for all her years of maturing talent to be exhibited to the world. The track RSVP off the album recieved substantial airplay on australian country music stations.
Just last year Melody released an EP titled WALK THAT WIRE, and off that comes this great country tune POOR MADELINE. On the basis of form to date Melody is going to become the biggest female country star in Australia since KASEY CHAMBERS and CATHERINE BRITT.
