JOHN DENVER: YOU SAY THE BATTLE IS OVER (LIVE 1995)

One of the very first blogs i ever wrote on Lost Treasures when i started it just over two years ago was about the JOHN DENVER anti-sealing and whaling anthem YOU SAY THE BATTLE IS OVER. Back then i still hadn't worked out how to embed You Tube, so here it finally is. DENVER arranged the song around the words and music of DAVID MALLETT, and it was originally released in studio version form on the AUTOGRAPH album in 1979. DENVER rarely if ever performed the song live in concert, one exception to the rule being this stirring rendition of it as part of the WILDLIFE CONCERT double album set in 1995. A blast from the past which proved that a bit of that anti-Vietnam and activist spirit was still alive and well in the mind of John Denver. Only two years later he would die in a light air crash off the coast of California. I would highly recommend that you get the WILDLIFE CONCERT DVD, even if you dont class yourself as a John Denver fan. This is a good quality video, except that the first ten seconds of the song has been cut off, which makes for a very abrupt beginning.
