LORETTA`S COFFEE PACKED ENOUGH SUDDEN IMPACT TO TURN HARRY CALLAHAN INTO A PIG HEADED SUCKER

This to me is the best action sequence in the history of modern cinema. Well modern if you are old fashioned like me, it comes from the 1983 Dirty Harry movie SUDDEN IMPACT, the third sequel featuring maverick firebrand cop Harry Callahan out on the streets of San Francisco cleaning up all the riff raff, or should I say blowing their heads off with his scorching hot 44 Magnum.

SUDDEN IMPACT is the very best Dirty Harry
sequel if you ask me, going back a few months I wrote a blog on the first sequel, MAGNUM FORCE, from `73, which was a good effort but this one just takes the
silver by a whisker. 

The movie is based around the tragic aftermath of two sisters being ganged raped
as young teenagers by a bunch of thugs, one of the sisters, played by Eastwood`s then real life wife Sondra Locke, sets about years later to get some.revenge by killing each of the culprits. 

Sooner or later Callahan finds out who is responsible for all the bizarre shootings around town, but having mercy for her, he lets her do what has to be done. 

Of course, this is only just one of the sub-plots of the movie, but it is by far the biggest one, the final scene in the movie where Callahan is chasing the baddie through a theme park, and where somebody, and not Callahan, ends up being impaled on a merry-go-round horse and slightly dead, is classic edge of your seat Harry at it`s best. 

The scene on the video clip above is the ultimate mixture of action and pisstake satire, only the opening drug bust scene in Lethal Weapon rivals it.

 

The line where one of the cafe robbers says to Callahan `you pig headed sucker`cracks me up every time, the same baddie at some stage says something like `who`s we sucker` when Callahan over confidently
says `well, we`re not just gonna let you
walk out of here`. 

Callahan responds to the baddie by saying that "Smith, Wesson and me", and then proceeds to blow him and all the other mongrel dogs away with his 44 Magnum. Loretta sure knew how to make one hell of a coffee, only if you like plenty of sugar that is.
