PALASZCZUK GOVERNMENT HARD PRESSED TO COME GOOD ON ENDING HOUSING CRISIS

If the Palaszczuk government wants to "build Queensland" out of the crippling housing crisis, it needs builders, it needs construction companies, that are still in business, to build thousands of new homes and dwellings.

Right now, that seems to be an impossibility. Unachievable, simply because so many construction companies have gone bust or are about to, and right now there is absolutely no light on the horizon which signals an end to chronic supply chain issues and hyperinflationary increases in the cost of building materials.

Obviously, two fundamentally big reasons why the Palaszczuk government's promises to end the housing crisis lack substance and credibility.

Until inflation is brought under some sort of control and the construction industry resurrects itself, the fact is the housing crisis is not going to miraculously disappear.

If construction companies collapse, tradies go down with them. Who's to say that all the carpenters, bricklayers and plumbers who are exiting the construction industry at the present time in droves will ever return to it, if and when the issues which are decimating it right now are finally addressed?

Certainly a lot won't be returning. To prevent an all out catastrophic housing crisis in the future, we need a government right now that does everything required to keep construction companies in business, provided they adhere to sound environmental practices and aren't shonky.

Is that government the Palaszczuk government? Don't hold your breath.
