Following two years of interest rate hikes and the cost of everything essential to living, like basic food, petrol, electricity and service providers skyrocketing towards the stratosphere, even the middle class is increasingly struggling to make ends meet.
Anthony Albanese's "caucus solution" to dealing with the cost of living crisis, which is being chaperoned by treasurer Jim Chalmers in a most unconvincing and stab in the dark manner, is not going to be the gold plated solution which puts an end to it.
The big supermarkets are guilty in part of price gouging and ripping suppliers off, especially farmers supplying them fresh fruit and vegetables.
But they are far from being the only culprits responsible for creating the cost of living crisis, as Albanese, Chalmers and many in government ranks are certainly insinuating.
What about insurance companies ripping people off with ridiculous out of kilter annual increases in their premiums?
What about electricity retailers milking every last dollar they can scrounge from their customers which doesn't correlate, at least to a great extent, to what they have to charge to counter their own inflationary liabilities to remain viable and earn a healthy profit?
The list goes on and on as to who is ripping Australian consumers off and creating the economic dynamics for a cost of living crisis.
It certainly isn't just the big supermarkets.
Instead of having this gang up on big supermarkets approach, which is basically a form of government arbitrary blackmail, Albanese, Chalmers and everyone from both sides of the political divide involved in this populist charade need to turn their attention as well to every company, corporation and government agency which are just as guilty.
Wow Toad. This is an amazing read.
