MORAL HIGH GROUND OVERKILL GROUNDS NETBALL AUSTRALIA'S ASSOCIATION WITH GINA RINEHART

Why should taxpayers plug Netball Australia's $15 million hole which only come about due to the sponsorship withdrawal which was "forced" on Gina Rinehart and her company Hancock Prospecting?

Yes, 50 or so years ago, Rinehart's mining magnate father Lang Hancock said some mighty inappropriate and unacceptable things about First Nation Australians.

Hancock's contemptuous and discriminatory attitude towards them was born mainly out of his own imperialistic and opportunistic disregard for anything that presented itself as an obstacle to his mining pursuits.

Netball Australia and at least "one player" on the Australian women's team has succeeded in painting and demonizing Hancock from half a century ago as some kind of rabid racist who hated First Nation Australians on the basis of their skin colour alone.

Fast forward half a century, and now you have Gina Rinehart, who all faults aside, has in the last few years proven that she's got a philanthropist's and charitable heart.

Rinehart has spent a sizable chunk of her fortune buying up Australian farmland before the Chinese did. She didn't buy a lemon, she done it with making a profit in mind, of course she did.

That's why she is Australia's wealthiest person. But what it proved is that she doesn't just think about dollar signs, she isn't some corporate narcissist who doesn't care at all about others and her country.

Figure of speech - if your grandfather had committed a crime or been a racist, does that reflect on you? Are you guilty of what they done and said in their life decades later because you are closely related to them?

Gina Rinehart must be asking a very similar question to herself after being bricked by Netball Australia.
