STATOIL AND GREAT AUSTRALIAN BIGHT DON'T MIX

After petroleum giants BP and Chevron pulled the pin on their plans to drill for oil within the Great Australian Bight, there was some premature and short lived optimism on the part of many activists that this pristine stretch of coastline would be spared forever from such misplaced industrialization.

It didn't take long at all for the announcement that Norway's imperialist oil giant,STATOIL,had plans already in place to do what BP and Chevron opted out of. S

STATOIL is already well progressed towards opening up the Arctic Ocean to its own unbridled oil exploration, aloof to international condemnation of such, not just from environment groups like Greenpeace, but from various celebrities and more left leaning governments.

The Great Australian Bight must be spared from the machinations and imperialism of STATOIL.

It is a pristine marine sanctuary, and given STATOIL's dubious track record with "accidents", it will only be a matter of when, not if, a mass oil spill in the GAB will occur if STATOIL is allowed in. I hope Malcolm Turnbull and Bill Shorten are listening.

The government and opposition must put politics aside and devise a bipartisan piece of legislation which stops STATOIL and any other oil company from ever coming anywhere near this beautiful, uncorrupted part of the earth.
