COURIER MAIL WOULDN'T PUBLISH ONE SINGLE WORD OF THIS BECAUSE STATE GOVERNMENTS AREN'T GOVERNMENTS - THEY'RE CORPORATIONS
What is a worse breach of our democratic institutions?
Having deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce and four genuinely ignorant or mildly foolish senators elected and sitting in federal parliament after failing to relinquish their dual citizenship?
Or having a panel of sanctimonious, holier than thou, constitutionally nitpicking High Court judges, unelected and accountable to no one, using whatever interpretation of the constitution they had to to railroad the political careers of all five parliamentarians who won their way into public office fairly and squarely?
The hypocrisy and maliciousness of this politically motivated witchhunt is both palpable and much more disturbing than the very mild breach of the constitution which the five parliamentarians are guilty of.
Instead of bricking parliamentarians over the great "dual citizenship oversight", what a great shame it is that the same High Court judges hadn't acted to publicly pilot the great need for constitutional amendment to stop state governments allowing the corporate takeover of private freehold land at the hands of mining and gas companies, just as one example.
That is a serious breach of the federal constitution that the upper realm of the High Court all along until now has completely and utterly swept under the carpet.
Australia's constitutional integrity was never under any threat from their dual citizenship folly. What it is under threat from is what the High Court doesn't do to stop corporate controlled and driven state governments from breaching the federal constitution. It's been going on for years.
