BIG NAME MEDIA COMMENTATORS GIVING "THIRD PARTY" CANDIDATES THE ELECTION 2016 SNUB
To the extent of advising Australian voters to be smart and objective about which party they vote for on July 2, and to give minor party sideshows a wide berth, I absolutely agree with the "advice" being peddled by various big name media commentators around Australia.
But to pull them up just a bit, I would say some of this advice has unfairly stereotyped any political party besides the LNP and ALP as being "second rate" and not fit to even to even stand candidates in a general election.
Understandably, I think a lot of Australians would take exception to that, like those who are sick to the back tooth of LNP and ALP propaganda, spin and lies - year after year.
Yes, the minor party and independent senator motley crue which has railroaded the senate for the past 2 years is definitely not what the present government needs or what the government post July 12 will need either.
Australia, and not just the government of the day, can well do without any minority appeal bandwagon in the senate needlessly obstructing rational and levelheaded legislation passed in the lower house, by a majority of federal parliamentarians.
Governments need to be able to function, and they cant do that if obstructionist for the sake of being obstructionist senators keep blocking legislation.
However, having said that, a number of currently sitting crossbench senators, including Queensland's Glenn Lazarus, have proven themselves to be just as worthy to take a seat in the senate as any LNP or ALP senator.
Contrary to the belief of these self annointed "experts" at the higher end of the media, the fact is there are a couple of very legitimate "third options" for Australian voters to consider, besides the same old song and dance options offered by the LNP and ALP.
Particularly with candidates running for the senate. Just consider and choose wisely - that's the best advice anyone could offer.
