CCTV SECURITY CAMERAS IN SOMERSET MAKE SENSE - AS COUNCILLOR I WILL BACK THEM 100%

They have worked a charm in Ipswich CBD to eliminate street crime and hooliganism, and most certainly the Somerset Regional Council should pursue the introduction of CCTV cameras in Somerset, and especially, in Lowood and surrounds.

First things first though, Lowood needs to get a 24/7 manned police station, something which is out of the council's hands and a matter for the state government, and specifically the member for Ipswich West, Jim Madden, to sort out and act upon.

Reportedly, that is in the pipeline as we speak and Lowood is in line to get that very soon. Not much point having CCTV cameras in any location if there is no police station open and no police on the beat to respond immediately to an incident which is captured on one of them.

Assuming Mr. Madden and the state government come to the party, the council's job will simply be to engage in dialogue with the local police and community groups to reach a consensus as to where CCTV cameras are needed the most, and take it from there.

Should I be elected as councillor on March 19, it will be my desire to proactively be a part of that process and persuade my fellow councillors to do likewise.
