Divorce isn't something that any government should ever be aiming to make money out of. It's a distressing enough situation and process for everybody involved in a relationship breakdown to begin with, without now being slugged with a totally
outrageous 40% hike in the fee to simply fill out an application form to apply for divorce.
The divorce tax hike which the federal Attorney-General George Brandis and his department have 'imposed by bureaucratic stealth', despite "legislation" in pursuit of the same outcome being struck down in the senate by Labor and Greens senators
and crossbenchers, highlights how ruthless and callous Brandis can be and the total disregard he has for the functions of the senate.
At some stage I wouldn't put it past Brandis whatsoever to 'try it on' with bringing back death duties, seeing that he's so adept at wanting to capitalize on people's misery.
Question is, could he succeed in doing that through bureaucratic imposition just like he has just done with the divorce tax hike without any such proposal having to pass through the senate.
George Brandis seems to be an expert at finding legal ways to by-pass "legislative democratic obstructions" every single time he is prevented from getting his own way. A total schemer. So you be the judge.
