HEADBANGER MATE OF MINE SHOWED ME THE WAY

Some old 70`s headbanger i know sent me a text message letting me know that Peter Frampton is coming to Australia in October with the bands America and Chicago.

I dont know a whole lot about Frampton to be honest, other than he was a bit of a gay hero in San Francisco haha, sorry bud I just had to say that, and he had a mega hit of an album in the mid 70`s called Frampton Comes Alive, a live album as the title suggests and ironically for me right now, with foot in mouth disease, it was recorded in the gay capital of the world, San Francisco.

The one song off Alive which continues to get airplay on radio in Australia is an uptempo tune called `Show Me The Way`, and there are a couple of other tracks on the album that I know to listen to but I would not know their title.

Sorry, but my computer is knackered and I am down at the Logan public library writing this completely off the top of my head, so I haven't got time to go looking for stuff about Peter Frampton on the internet.

My headbanger mate who texted me about Frampton coming out to Australia might pick me up on this and tell me that I'm wrong, but Stanley Sheldon, who I think was Frampton`s bassist on the Alive album at least, and maybe his studio albums as well, was the biggest beneficiary of Frampton Comes Alive as far as gaining a lot of studio session work from the exposure he got from being in Frampton`s band.

Frampton Comes Alive is OK for a 70`s album, too campy for me really, I listened to it a long time ago and to me the best song on it is definitely `Show Me The Way` but two other songs to my recollection were good fare as well.

I know one of the better songs on it featured the talking guitar, which was a very trendy innovation in the 1970`s rock arsenal.

Frampton released Frampton Comes Alive
2 only a few years ago or so, I have not listened to it yet but judging by Frampton`s acoustic rendition of a song off the album on a morning TV program I was watching, the album might well be a lot more laid back and bluesy than its much more acclaimed predecessor.

Obviously my headbanger mate likes Peter Frampton, or else he would not have sent me a text message about the guy.

I just say have a listen to his music if you get the opportunity and think about going along to see him play live in concert when he visits Australia later this year.
